How to Play Cricket…

19/06/2009

The Trold was preparing for a game of cricket and read:
“Here’s how to play cricket:
There are two teams. One in. One out. The team that’s out try to get the player that’s in, out. When they do get him out, he goes in. Then another player comes out and, as long as he is out, he’s in. The object then is for the team that is out to get the second player out and, when they do get him out, he also goes in. This process is repeated until the team that is out gets all the team that’s in out. When the whole team is out, the team that was in goes out and the team that was out is in. Then they play a second innings, until they are all out. Except one. He remains not out.”
Trolden whistled at the sheer elliptical elegance of this… ‘So, that’s where Joseph Heller got his idea for Catch 22…’ he thought.
